Custom Slotted Steel Pulling Anchor Plate

Proprietary Fabricated Product — Underground Utility Contractors, Northeast Ohio

Active Production - 3 years

Underground utility contractors pulling heavy wire and cable through long conduit runs rely on a snatch block anchored to the manhole or vault wall. The standard industry solution; a cast-in pulling iron set by the precast manufacturer is fixed at one factory-determined location. When the pull geometry requires an anchor point elsewhere in the structure, the cast-in iron is useless. Many precast manufacturers don't include pulling irons at all, leaving crews with no anchor solution on site.

The Vermilye Pull Plate eliminates both problems with a bolt-on, field-positionable anchor that installs anywhere in the structure at any elevation independent of what the precast manufacturer provided.

What we designed and built:

  • ASTM A-36 structural carbon steel base plate CNC waterjet cut for consistent slot tolerances across every unit

  • Center-welded 1" A-36 steel pulling lug fabricated to AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code

  • 5/8" slotted bolt pattern for field angle adjustment during installation

  • Working Load Limit: 5,500 lbs (A307 bolts) / 11,000 lbs (A325 structural bolts)

  • Finish options: standard enamel, hot-dip galvanized for wet/corrosive environments, powder coat for extended field life

  • Custom slot dimensions, plate sizing, and finish specifications available to order

"The flexibility to place the anchor exactly where we need it regardless of what the precast gave us is something we can't get anywhere else."
